Basic Principles of Moving Goods

The transfer of material or material adal a very important activity in the production activities and is closely linked with planning the layout of production facilities. This activity itself is actually an activity that is called non-productive activities. Said to be non-productive because it does not provide value-added or any changes to the material or material that is moved either change the shape, dimensions and characteristics - physical or chemical properties of the material to be moved. On the other hand it is the material removal activities will add to the cost. Thus wherever possible material removal activities are eliminated or reduced by moving the material in as short a distance - in short to adjust the layout of production facilities or departments.
Based on the formulation set forth by the American Material Handling Society (AMHS), an understanding of the material handling or transfer of material is defined as the art and science that involves the handling (handling), displacement (moving), wrapping / packaging (packaging), storage (storing), as well control / monitoring (controlling) of a substance or material in any form.
