Most companies in today's layout is set based on combinations of the four kinds of the existing layout. In its original form is rarely a manager or director of the layout of the sets individually. As an example we can find a combination of lay-out based on the product and process flow. Here we can find four kinds or types of layouts are classically applied in the design layout are:
Flow Based Facility Layout Production (Production Line Product Product or layout)If a particular company manufactures a range of products or groups of products in large quantities (mass production) and a long production time, all the production facilities of such company shall be arranged so that the production process can take place as efficiently as possible. By using the model of the production flow layout, all the facilities for the production or assembly will also be placed on the flow line (flow line) of the production process. In principle, this layout can be shown in the figure below:

Facility Layout by Product Group (Product Family or Group Technology Layout Product Layout)The layout of this type is based on a grouping of products or components to be made. These products are not identical are grouped according to the steps, processes, forms, machinery or equipment used, and so on. Here the grouping is not based on the similarity of the final product as well as product type layout. In the group technology layout is basically grouped in the first part is in the part family to be included in a group technology. Group technology is effectively applied to a company that has a lot of machines with the character of the process are similar to each other. The layout of the facility by product group can be shown as in below:
Facility Layout Based on Material Location Equipment (Fixed Meterial Production Location Fixed Position Layout or Layout)For factory layout based on the fixed, material or product that the major component will stay fixed at the position or location of production facilities while such tools, machinery, human and other small components will move to the location of the material or component main product is .. Here's the schematic diagram of the layout of production facilities which are governed by the position of fixed material:
Based Facility Layout Function or Process Types (Functional / Process Layout)Layout based on the kind of process or functional layout is commonly known methods of arrangement and placement of all the machinery and production equipment that has the same type or types into a single department. For example in a manufacturing company: all the stamping process is done in the department, milling machines, placed in the same location as the milling department, the welding process carried out in the welding department, and others. The following figure layout is governed by the flow of the process:
Facility Layout Based on the Combined Group (Hybrid Layout)This layout is a combination of four types of layout described above. This combination is tailored to the types of requirements on a company's processes. Below is a schematic drawing of the layout hybrit:

Below is a table of differences of each kind of layout is based on production volume and product variety.Table 2.1. Types of LayoutLayout type of product variations Volume ProductionProduct layoutFixed location layoutCellular layoutProcess layout HighLowWasLow LowLowWasHeight
The layout of the station by a route of transport can be divided into two variables, namely routing and fixed routing.
